Virtual Coffee Chat

  • May 18 @ 1:00 pm
Join INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED SHIPBROKERS, SOUTH AFRICA for our next virtual Coffee Chat!
We will be discussing the reflections in year of command – not all plain sailing, with our guest speaker, Captain Ann P.
Guest Speaker: Captain Ann Pletschke
Speakers Bio:
Ann started at sea back in 2000 as a deck cadet on deep-sea reefer vessels. Since then, she has remained in the industry throughout, not letting any hardship stand in her way from reaching her childhood dream of being a Captain. After spending much of her time at sea on the African coast in oil and gas, and then ashore holding management positions in France, Angola, Mauritius and the UK.
She returned to sea in 2023 and in 2024, she took command of a newbuild DP2 vessel. Whilst she didn’t intend to step back ashore, she was lured back earlier this year to commence a role for The Nautical Institute leading the STEER Project, funded by Lloyd’s Register Foundation, to investigate the impact of technology on seafarers. She is balancing this alongside her charitable volunteering and running her maritime surveying and consultancy business, Trinity Maritime PTY.
Outside of work, she is a passionate mentor to other maritime professionals and a proud bursary sponsor for young girls at Lawhill Maritime Centre – Official who dream of having a career within the maritime industry like she also did.
This event is open to ICS students, members, tutors, and supporters.
